Kindred 360°

Kindred 360° retreats involve art-making, self-reflection, group listening circles and tool sharing.  Feeding the body and the spirit, the focus is on creating sacred space for the potential of personal transformation and listening to others experiences to gain a deeper understanding of our community.

Purpose
We gather together to create sacred space using our artistic practices to strengthen our ability to impact collective healing.

Impetus
For more than 15 years ArtSpot Productions has facilitated spaces in which women can tell their stories.  Through our professional performance productions and educational activities in schools and prison, we have created transformational healing space for thousands of women.  Post-Katrina we began intentionally incorporating the creation of sacred space into our performance and educational work.  Early on, we began collaborating extensively with other organizations in order to to create and present works of art and to implement programming around issues important to women, including racial healing.

Kindred 360° is designed to build collective conversations and cross-sector alliances among women doing work for and with other women.  We are strengthening the web of women throughout the city by facilitating space in which women can gather and organize support systems.  Currently, this work is conceived and led by Ausettua Amor Amenkum of Kumbuka African Drum & Dance, Alison Haracznak of Nightlight Collective, Monique Moss of Third Eye Theatre, and Rebecca Mwase, Kathy Randels, Lisa Shattuck and Ashley Sparks of ArtSpot Productions.

Work
◊   Kitchen Table and Picnic Conversations
This is a bi-monthly dinner series for women.  Over a meal we share stories, tools, and resources for self-care and community healing.  We cross-reference our experiences and grow to see truth from a multiplicity of perspectives.

◊   Self-care Retreats
These retreats involve art-making, self-reflection, group listening circles, and tool sharing.  Feeding the body and the spirit, the focus is on creating sacred space for the potential of personal transformation and listening to others' experiences to gain a deeper understanding of our community.

◊   Community Organizing
We are creating a resource map of organizations and individuals in the New Orleans area that focus on women's emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical health.  This will be available via the ArtSpot website and a Facebook page to make women's work more visible.
